Freehold is defined as a regime of property tenure wherein a person is given complete dominion over a particular property. As opposed to Leasehold, rights conferred in favor of an owner are more comprehensive and established. In Freehold, the owner is given more than the right to possess the property. Moreover, the owner is not required to return the property after the expiration of the lease agreement. Also, as to the extent of a freehold, such a concept includes both improvements such as buildings and other immovable as well as the land on which they are found.
